Passing through the gate of the Museum, visitors walk down the imposing alley and suddenly find themselves in darkness. As their eyes become accustomed to the sight, history begins to unfold right before them.
Vergina
Death, the past, the soil, oblivion are shadows with no colour; but life and memory represent light and colour. The creators of the exhibition at the museum of Vergina have created a world of shadows, where ancient objects dwell emblazoned in light and heat, and where, except for the monuments, the only colour is “porfyra” (scarlet red), insinuating the blood of the royal dead. The darkness that prevails in this space gives birth to a feeling of awe, turns sounds into whispers and imposes the atmosphere of the land of the dead, where visitors wander and unravel the ball of memory.
The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of professor Manolis Andronikos, the archaeologist who brought to light these treasures, and had the knowledge and mental awareness to recognize their significance.
Edessa
Visitors to Edessa have the opportunity to admire two waterfalls. The double waterfall that flows at an angle, and whose turbulent waters split into two, and the Karanos waterfall, whose water falls vertically from a great height of about 70 metres.
Agios Nikolaos
This is a lush green area with immense plane trees, through which the river of Naoussa, Arapitsa, flows. A perfect location for relaxation, but one that also offers a variety of activities. Visitors can see the church of Agios Nikolaos, the springs of Arapitsa river, the small man-made lake with trout and ducks etc.
